Kamala Harris sees dramatic surge in betting odds after first debate

Kamala Harris drew widespread praise for her performance during the night of their first Democratic presidential debates, and oddsmakers have taken notice.
On Bovada, Harris has become tied for the third-best odds to win the presidency at 2020 in +750, just behind Donald Trump (EVEN) and Joe Biden (+450).
The California Senator was recorded at +1200 last month and sat Trump, Biden, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg.

Other betting platforms are even more generous.
On Bet Online, Harris has given the best odds (+250) of winning the Democratic nomination, and is followed closely by Joe Biden (+325) and Elizabeth Warren (+450).
Predict It also lists Kamala Harris as the favorite to win the nomination, although the site models odds in the forms of”share costs” of a candidate’s stock. Her”cost” is now 22 cents, which ranks ahead of Joe Biden (21 cents) and Elizabeth Warren (20 cents).
Also rising following the initial debate were Elizabeth Warren (+2000 on Bovada last month and +750 currently ) and Pete Buttigieg (+1100 on Bovada last month and +850 now).

Joe Biden’s chances have dipped slightly on Bovada, as he was recorded at +450 going into the debates and now sits in +425. Oddsmakers are likely waiting on polling to find out whether the former president’s performance will have any effect on his support, since Biden has maintained a healthy lead in the polls despite a number of campaign controversies to this point.
Bernie Sanders seemed to fall the maximum after the first debate, because he had been leapfrogged by Harris, Warren and Buttigieg on Bovada after the initial argument.
